CANTINA SIFNOS: MODERN GREEK COOKING
A note from Mario on his favourite meal in Greece.
BY MARIO EROICO
On my recent trip to Greece, I had the chance to visit an amazing restaurant that I think is worth mentioning.
The dinner at Cantina in Sifnos will stay in my mind for a long time. It had such a great atmosphere, incredible food, and the experience of eating right in front of the sea made it even more special.
Sifnos is, in my opinion, now one of the best Greek islands for food, and Cantina was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. We had a six-course tasting menu, with each course showcasing the quality of the ingredients and the style of the restaurant.
I really wanted to share this experience because I think it could be a great place to keep in mind.
Below are a few of the dishes we tried, as well as the magical sunset we caught at the start of the evening:
- Thinly sliced local beef — goat’s cheese, cappers, garumayo, pickled onion and mustard seeds
- Fava crepe — wild figs, chloromanoura cheese, rocket pesto
- Chickpea panisse — smoked tomato ketchup & rustic mayonnaise
- Oven-baked pork — with its sauce, rocket, pickled beetroot, pumpkin mustard
Best,
Mario
