Tapas with Friends

Charlotte recalls a perfect final night in Palma, sharing traditional tapas, Mallorquín rosé and standout Galician-style octopus with friends.

BY CHARLOTTE BRIDSON

Cobbled backstreets. Sizzling meats. Fragrant wines. The sights and smells that met me and my friends as we wandered through the streets of Palma, looking for delicious, traditional tapas. And then we found it. A beautiful, compact restaurant, with tables spilling into the streets and a welcoming interior.

We took our seats and started with a crisp, Mallorcan Rosé, the perfect sip after a hot day in the city. Then came the food. Balancing all the different dishes on our somewhat small table became quite a challenge, but one we were happy to take on.

Every dish was so fresh and flavourful. It was a beautiful way to spend our final night away together, sharing dishes and moments of the trip.

Everything was gorgeous, but a moment for my favourite tapas dish, the Galician style octopus. Tender slices of octopus, layered over perfectly soft potatoes, coated in smoky paprika, perfection. Other stand out moments have to be the pan con tomate, so simple but so scrumptious, and the pork cheek, utterly melt in the mouth.

It was the perfect end to an amazing trip.
